Descubierto en octubre de 1994 por Klaus Schmidt en el suroeste de Turquía, en la provincia de Sanliurfa.
Es el primer templo que se conoce y data del Neolítico en torno a 9000-75000 a.C.
Esta formado por monumentos megalíticos circulares y rectangulares en forma de recintos. Decorados ricamente sobre todo por relieves animales. Algunos de 5.5 metros de altura. Es considerado una maravilla arqueológica y con una arquitectónica muy inusual.
Construido teóricamente por cazadores-recolectores seminómadas.
Si es un gran misterio el porque se construyó, lo es igualmente el porque fue abandonado repentinamente, siendo enterrado.
Cuando muchas de las incógnitas que presenta esta construcción se vayan desvelando, igual habrá que reescribir parte de la historia.
