This fully self-sufficient public transit system is operated by Seattle Monorail Services for the city of Seattle. With an annual ridership of around 2 million, the historical landmark elevated monorail line and its two trains were constructed by Alweg Rapid Transit Systems for the Century 21 Exposition World's Fair.

The route provides service on its two parallel tracks, running north-south at a top speed of 72 kph. Spanning 1.5km along Fifth Avenue between Seattle Center in Lower Queen Anne, passing through the Experience Music Project museum building, to Westlake Center in Downtown, with SLUT's southern terminus nearby.
