The Fluidity Of Life
There’s a strange kind of solace in solitude, yet a quiet ache that accompanies it. Sometimes, I find myself standing still while everything else moves around me. Friends, strangers, moments: each flowing, unstoppable, like a river that doesn’t care whether you’re ready to jump in. It’s not that I mind being alone; it’s more about the space it creates between who I am now and the version of myself I imagine I could be.
The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “Panta rhei,” meaning “everything flows.” It’s a reminder that nothing stays the same: not even pain or loneliness. Everything, even the darkest of times, is transient. And yet, it’s in these moments of stillness that I often find the most truth. There’s an odd comfort in knowing that, while I may be here now, this is not where I’ll always be. The river will continue, and so will I.
It’s easy to think that solitude is permanent, but the reality is that everything changes, with time, whether we expect it or not. The good, the bad, the quiet: the restlessness we sometimes feel in our hearts. They’re all temporary. I may feel alone now, but the story isn't over. I don’t need the reassurance of someone to tell me that things will improve; I know they will, because they always do.
Still, it doesn’t hurt to reach out, even in times of quiet reflection. If you ever feel like exchanging a thought or sharing a moment, don’t hesitate to write. I believe in connection, in the simplicity of a conversation that could be the spark for something unexpected.
Until then, I’ll let the river of life take me wherever it chooses.
