Nate had been away for what felt like an eternity.
And whilst he and Layne had kept in touch every day via phone calls and messages, a part of him was fully expecting her to have moved on, found someone else, the novelty of having an absent boyfriend having worn off.
So when he took to that stage in London, scanning the crowd as was his usual custom at the start of every show, his heart soared when he spotted a familiar redhead.
In that moment, he made a decision that could have the potential to change his life forever. But considering it had been on his mind for long enough, whilst he'd been away, that he'd prepared for it (even though he hadn't been sure he'd go through with it), he called Layne up on stage, as he so often did.
And she came willingly, of course, as she always did.
Once she was up on stage, he darted backstage quickly and grabbed something from his bag.
Now came the hardest part of the entire night. And possibly the hardest thing he'd had to do in his life.
Get down on one knee in front of a huge crowd.
