Science Trip



Someone at school thought it would be a great idea to take a bunch of teenagers into the wild and call it "educational." Welcome to our science trip, where we’re supposed to become nature experts in ten days. I laugh in order not to cry.

We’re in this super scenic (aka middle of nowhere) nature reserve, learning about ecosystems, biodiversity and how not to die in the woods. Today we had to collect water samples from a lake and analyze them. Sounds easy, right? WROOONG. First, the lake is freezing. Second, let’s talk about Jake. In his infinite wisdom, this dude thought it would be "fun" to step on a rock in the water… which, surprise, was not a rock. It was MUD. And the way he sank... I swear one second he was fine, the next he was knee-deep screaming like a horror movie victim. The teacher had to pull him out... That was iconic; best believe I’ll be reminding him about this forever.

On top of that, we have to sleep in these tiny cabins and my room smells like wet socks and bug spray... I don't know if I'll survive that long. Anyway, gotta go 'cause we’re doing a night walk to "observe nocturnal species." If a raccoon steals my phone, know I tried my best.



PD: The only thing we’ll remember from all this? The fire selfies we took in our free time.
