Letter to My Captain

Vickie,

you were the only person I ever truly needed. Before you, the world was nothing but maps and waves. You turned it into stories. You were the one who pushed me into the wild, who showed me that real adventures begin the moment you stop playing it safe. We hunted storms together, then trophies, living that crazy athlete life side by side.

Now you’re gone and there’s this hole inside me – a silence louder than any stadium or crowd. Rasmus is out there walking his own path, and I’m proud of him, but on some days the house feels like an empty shell without your laughter.

Still, a real pirate keeps his eyes on the horizon and knows only one course: straight ahead. I owe you that much. Jamie is by my side, beats and guitars instead of finish lines and medals, and this band keeps my hands and my heart busy when the nights get too long.

Wherever you are – keep a place for me on the shore.
